June Recap

cp:yoga fam - there are no words that could do this month justice, just one feeling and that is gratitude. during the month of June, we switched things up and took this show on the road to the longview art gallery in the beautiful and historic neighborhood of shaw. moving things from virtual to irl was a risk and would require more planning and trust in this community, but you all did not disappoint and thanks to your efforts and dedication June was a smash!

across all of the classes hosted (virtually and irl), we were able to raise a total of $1,005 to benefit SMYAL, an incredible organization advocating on behalf of LGBTQ youth to ensure that they are empowered to seize each day and have a bright future, despite difficult circumstances. this organization was first put on my radar during pride 2018. i was so impressed with the housing work they were doing to ensure that at-risk, LGBTQ youth had roofs over their heads and resources to ensure that regardless of the choice their families made, they always had safety and guidance to succeed.

the impact SMYAL made on my life, by spending one weekend volunteering with their team is the same impact i had hoped they’d have on yours, by spending one day moving and flowing together as a community, despite our sexual preferences, gender identities, races, and socioeconomic backgrounds. at the end of the day we are all part of the same, broader community, which is what cp:yoga is all about.

thank you for your commitment and willingness to show your pride, during pride month as we showed up, not just for ourselves, but for the LGBTQ community that surrounds us. with light, love + community, cp.
